Barbara A.W. Clarke, AIA has been appointed to a two-year term on the Sustainability Advisory Committee for the borough of West Chester. Clarke, Director of Sustainability with JL Architects in West Chester, has successfully completed LEED and Green Globes certification for construction projects that include the areas of higher education, healthcare & wellness, K-12 education, hospitality, retail bulk, and office interiors.
Both LEED and Green Globes are a nationally recognized green rating assessment and certification program for the built environment. Both programs work towards the goal of improving building operations, occupant comfort and the climate. Property owners of a LEED or a Green Globes certified building are finding the increased marketability, the reduced operating costs, the possible tax benefits, and possible loan reduction through programs such as the Fannie Mae multi-family Green Incentive Financing to be a positive investment choice & a positive choice for the environment.
Clarke has been actively involved with sustainable design since 2009, and is looking forward to being a contributing member to sustainability in her hometown of West Chester.
